Join us for this Honor Ruck led by a GORUCK Cadre, Roger Sparks, to pay tribute to veterans of all eras. We invite participants to join us as we ruck through Manhattan with a brief stop in Brooklyn and then back to Manhattan where we we link up with another contingent and visit the war memorials of lower Manhattan including:

  • Vietnam Veterans Memorial
  • WWII Memorial
  • Korean War Memorial
  • The Canyon of Heroes
  • America’s Response Statue

Start Point: Eternal Light Flagstaff located at Madison Square Park on 24th Street and 5th Ave

Approximate Distance: 8.5 miles

Approximate Endex: 4:00 PM for drinks on Stone Street

Invited: GRTs, veterans, & veteran supporters. Family friendly & dog friendly

***There is no specific weight requirement. The weight in your rucksack will be at your discretion so please plan accordingly. Please be aware that all rucksacks may be subject to inspection by law enforcement at any time during this event.

We will pause at the World Trade Center Reflecting Pools to lay a wreath and to be presented a flag flown over the WTC Memorial for us. GWOT Veterans are welcomed to say a few words. Participants will be given a ruck patch to commemorate the occasion.

Retired MASTER SERGEANT ROGER SPARKS has served within the military as both a Recon Marine and an Air Force Pararescueman for over 25 years. Sparks is a recipient of the Silver Star, one of our nation's highest awards for valor, for his actions during a fierce firefight with insurgents in Afghanistan’s Watapur Valley on Nov. 14, 2010. Sparks has transitioned from a career of special operations into the civilian world as an artist, author and speaker. He lives with his family in Eagle River, Alaska.
