ABOUT THIS EVENT

BASIC SHOOTER - LEVEL 2


This event is designed for beginners who want to develop a solid foundation in firearm safety, proper handling, and basic marksmanship while learning to manage stress during physical activity. The focus will be on safety, form, and the fundamentals of shooting under moderate physical exertion, with the goal of building confidence and skill.


MINIMUM ENTRY FIREARM REQUIREMENTS

Participants should be comfortable handling firearms safely and accurately. We recommend taking the Basic Pistol - Level 1 and the Basic Rifle - Level 1 events prior to participating in the Basic Shooter. 


EVENT COURSE OF ACTION TO BE INCLUDED:

  • Firarm Safety Fundamentals Overview
    • Review basic safety protocol for both firearm platforms
  • Basic Shooting Skill Overview
    • Engaging stationary targets with a focus on accuracy
    • Shootiing from different stances
  • Stress Drills
    • Basic exercises and Rucking will be use to help simulate mild stress prior to shooting. This will help you learn how to focus on proper shooting techniques under pressure.

WHAT TO BRING

  • A rucksack aka backpack (Rucker recommended)
  • Ruck Plate = You choose the weight
    • Recommended Men= 20 lb. Ruck Plate (or equivalent)
    • Recommended Women= 10 lb. Ruck Plate (or equivalent)
  • Eye Protection (sunglasses are acceptable)
  • Electronic Hearing Protection
  • Duty Type OWB holster
  • Rifle
  • Pistol
  • Muzzle Down Sling
  • 5 Magazines Pistol (must hold 10 rounds or greater)
  • 5 Magazines Rifle (must hold 10 rounds or greater
  • 2 Magazine Holster Rifle
  • 2 Magazine Holster Pistol
  • 100 Rounds of ammo per weapon
  • Spare batteries for your optics, ear protection, and lights
  • Gloves
  • Sturdy Belt
  • Long Pants
  • Closed-toed shoes (MACV-1 Boots recommended)
  • Photo ID
  • Water, food, snacks (for duration of course)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Firearms Training utilizes semiautomatic pistols, however, we offer custom classes on any and all small arms. Full-Frame pistols are recommended. Sub-Compact pistols are not recommended.
  • SERPA-style holsters not authorized. Due to the nature of the training offered and the repetitive drawing and holstering of firearms, SERPA style holsters are not authorized for GORUCK Firearms training courses. If you do not have an alternative holster available, one may be provided with advanced notice.
  • Keep firearms in vehicles. Please take care that when arriving to training sites, participants are not to remove from their vehicles or otherwise handle firearms until instructed to do so by the

CADRE CHUY

Chuy has nearly 27 years of military experience, with over 23 of those years serving in numerous special operations forces (SOF) units, both as an enabler and a commando.  He has operational deployments all over the globe in areas such as South America, Africa, Europe, Southeast Asia, and Central Asia.  His areas of experience are in Counter Terrorism (CT), Counterinsurgency (COIN), Security Force Assistance (SFA), with special focuses in Unconventional Warfare (UW) and Foreign Internal Defense (FID).  Most of his military career has been at the tactical level, serving on three different Underwater Special Forces Operational Detachment-Alphas (SFOD-A).  Chuy has a passion for teaching, coaching, and mentoring those who seek to "Free the Oppressed".  Presently, he serves as a senior leader for the United States Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School (USAJFKSWCS) preparing current and future Green Berets in support of US objectives.
