“Dedicated adherence to spartan standards, maintenance of continuous operational readiness for the conduct of multiple, complex missions; complete faith in the capability to execute those missions and the willing acceptance of hazards far beyond the normal call of duty have made the 10th Special Forces Group the unit with the greatest combat potential in the Armed Forces.”
— Colonel Aaron Bank The Father of Special Forces
24+ hours, 24+ miles, 6 workouts that honor the birthday and lineage of Special Forces. 100% Outside. Yes, you read that right — Happy Birthday to Special Forces. We’re celebrating, GORUCK style.
Free beer, a patch, and respect for all who complete the event.
You will be living out of the oft-used back parking lot fenced in behind GORUCK HQ. You can find some real estate there and make it yours. If it rains, you’ll probably want something to keep your stuff dry.
This is not a GORUCK Challenge where the Cadre leads the team from start to finish. The role of the Cadre is to organize the community and give you the workouts and movements once you show up. Expect the Cadre to do all or most of the workouts with you. You choose the weight in your rucksack and in your sandbag. To challenge yourself more, add more weight.
This event is not about how heavy your ruck, or your sandbag is. It’s about challenging yourself and the community being accountable to each other.
The choice is yours.
You pick the weight on your back. Anywhere from 0 to 30 LBS is recommended. You can alternate throughout the event if you want. Your choice. You are required to bring a sandbag. Anything from 20 LBS to 120LBS is authorized. You are authorized to bring two Sandbags and switch out, if you want. Your choice.
The Cadre will be on site to motivate and challenge you to do more. But, his role is not to put you in the mud or in the ocean. That event is called the GORUCK Challenge, this is different. He will stay on the X, where the workouts go down. Then he will issue you the movement, and you’ll get off the X, go to the destination, and come back.
The workouts will begin at the same time for everyone.
We do not track your scores, though you are welcome to. It’s not a race per se. If you’re feeling under challenged, you can employ your sandbags to increase the work.
The role of the Cadre is to motivate, organize, and challenge participants. And pass out beers and the CLOVERLEAF patch, which you earn upon successful completion. It will never be for sale.
Jason started GORUCK so Monster could fulfill his destiny to become President of GORUCK Nation. And yeah, Lion King eat your heart out.
