VETERANS DAY HERO WOD - CHAD 1000X

Veteran Suicide Prevention

 

Sara Wilkinson, GORUCK, and CrossFit present the hero workout “Chad 1000X” - in honor of Navy SEAL Chad Wilkinson who took his life on October 29, 2018 due to the effects of numerous deployments, several TBIs, blast wave injuries and PTSD. Our goal is to honor Chad’s life and legacy and to raise awareness for suicide prevention.

Last year’s Chad 1000X event saw 4,500+ registered participants (with over $100K raised) looking to be a part of something greater than themselves. To not only bring awareness to the epidemic of suicide, particularly among veterans, but also to help be part of the solution through the support to the Navy SEAL Foundation and other veteran health initiatives. 

This year join us again in paying respect to Chad Wilkinson and all of those who have been lost to suicide, while also committing to try to change the number. THE WORKOUT

1000X Step Ups completed as a team, partner, or individual for time. For participating in:

  • 3 OPTIONS:
    1. Slick // No rucksack. You pick the height of the step-ups.

    2. Standard // 30#/20# rucksack. You pick the height of the step-ups.

    3. Expert // 45# rucksack. Use 20” box for step-ups.

WHAT TO BRING

  • A rucksack aka backpack (Rucker recommended)

  • Ruck Plate or whatever you have to make the weight you choose 

    • 3 OPTIONS:

      • Slick // No rucksack. You pick the height of the step-ups.

      • Standard // 30#/20# rucksack. You pick the height of the step-ups.

      • Expert // 45# rucksack. Use 20” box for step-ups.

  • Bring your own box or step-up if available

  • Nalgene bottle (1L) or equivalent to stay hydrated

Stephanie Ring

Stephanie is the Head Coach and Manager of Stay Classy CrossFit and is honored to be leading the Chad1000x event in San Diego for the 3rd year in a row. 

 

After many years at desk, Stephanie began her coaching career teaching yoga at YogaFlow SF and Planet Granite in San Francisco, CA. During that time, she also created Endure Yoga, a movement method for recovery and athletic resilience. During that time she also wrote and published e-books, and developed online programs for yoga, strength and post-workout recovery and written over 50 articles for fitness publications including Oxygen Magazine, Muscle and Performance, Bodybuilding.com, SweatRX and Active.com

 

Then, around 2019, she transitioned to a full time CrossFit Coach and Gym Manager and had the opportunity to lead people towards a happier and healthier life through the CrossFit methodology, quality coaching and a strong community. From her love of CrossFit, Stephanie has also led many special workout events at various gyms throughout her career, volunteers with The Phoenix and works with partners around San Diego like Team RWB and Triton Ruck Club, to help connect the greater fitness community together.
